• Redesign the signs/wayfinding and exercise pictograms for the Sharon Woods Parcourse Trail.

  • Once I got the brief I began researching one of the most influential sets of action pictograms. The Olympic Pictograms. The Olympics hire a designer for each Olympics and they do the branding for that Olympic but they also do the event pictograms. This was a great start but I knew that I wanted to take this into 3D.

  • When working on a project that has so many different goals, I find it best to work from general to specific. I started with what I want to communicate and went from there. When considering the Trail Entry Sign I wanted it to be simple. Very legible, then if you need more information about the trail difficulty or how many exercises that would come secondary. After this I sketched layouts for the actual exercise signs. I was required to create 50 sketches and Iā€™m glad I did. After this phase I began the 3D animation/rendering. Following that it was as simple as combining the renders and the stationary information of each piece. I finished with mockup and final presentation.

  • For this project I wanted to utilize 3D animation and motion graphics, it took a lot of research and trial and error but I feel a lot more comfortable moving forward.
